The assassination of a sitting President is still an embarrassment for Dallas, one that really hasn't abated in the 50 years since it happened at 12:30pm on Friday the 22nd of November 1963. Although the original investigation concluded the assassination was Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone, a 1978 investigation concluded that the FBI investigation into the matter was seriously flawed because there was evidence that 4 shots were fired only 3 of which had come from Oswald.
The X on the road is where JFK was when the second shot was made. The window on the right end of the top floor on the building behind is where the shot was taken from.
The X is still in the middle of the road but now the 'grassy knoll' is in the background across the road.
