JFK Assassination

The assassination of a sitting President is still an embarrassment for Dallas, one that really hasn't abated in the 50 years since it happened at 12:30pm on Friday the 22nd of November 1963. Although the original investigation concluded the assassination was Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone, a 1978 investigation concluded that the FBI investigation into the matter was seriously flawed because there was evidence that 4 shots were fired only 3 of which had come from Oswald.

A map of the area.
The X on the road is where JFK was when the second shot was made. The window on the right end of the top floor on the building behind is where the shot was taken from.
The X is still in the middle of the road but now the 'grassy knoll' is in the background across the road.
The sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository
The Municipal Hall building no where Lee Harvey Oswald was gunned down by Jack Ruby.

Dallas

Dallas is a city of firsts, some of them dubious such as America's first frozen daiquiri machine, Americas's first Tex-Mex restaurant, and America's first Neimann Marcus store.

Dallas and Houston were 4th and 2nd in America's top 5 states for inbound population movement which means that the rest of the USA thinks Texas is a pretty good places to live. perhaps Florida has lost its pedestal rating for most retirees?

The Old Red Museum -1892. Was originally a courthouse.
Dallas' first Presbyterian church
Adolphus Hotel
Pioneer Plaza - the worlds largest bronze sculpture which commemorates 19th century cattle drives that took place along the Shawnee trail. There are 70 bronze steers and 3 trail riders.
The McKinney Avenue trolley

Thanksgiving Square chapel. One of the most beautiful lead light displays in America.
Thanksgiving square Bell Tower with 3 Liberty Bell replicas
The Dallas Baptist Church fountain
The Perot Science Museum
The John Fitzgerald Kennedy Memorial
The old Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Railway Co of Texas
The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge - 400 foot high, 1200 foot span.
And of course a real Texan needs boots...
And hats...
And belt buckles...
Even crosses!

A map of all the shipwrecks on the reefs around the Keys. It seems Captains of the day didn't seem to take much notice of everyone else's misfortune.

Dallas Stars vs Winnipeg Jets Ice Hockey

Sadly the Stars lost 2-1 although they only lost on a shoot-out after the score was tied at full time.
At each Time Out, ice scraper girls came out.
